    Program Information Form

    Background Information

    As a key part of the Binnacle Training onboarding process, the Statement of Engagement provides Binnacle Training with the essential information required in preparation for your school to deliver one or more of our programs. The Statement of Engagement form consists of 6 sections:

    1. School Details
    2. Training Programs
    3. Teacher HR Requirements
    4. Program Deliverer Details
    5. School Physical Resource Requirements
    6. Third Party Marketing Requirements

    The Binnacle Training ‘Third-Party Agreement’ which outlines the full responsibilities of both Binnacle Training (as the lead RTO) and the School (as the Third Party) will be available prior to Term 1.

    TAE Requirements

    All Binnacle program deliverers must meet one of the following trainer and assessor requirements prior to the commencement of delivery:

    1. Minimum Requirement: Holds a teaching degree (which enables registration as a secondary school teacher) plus holds one of the following TAE Skill Sets (cluster of units in partial completion of TAE40122):
      • TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set; or
      • TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set
    2. Holds a full Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116 or TAE40110*)

    * If using the TAE40110 qualification, the following core units must also be held:

    • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools (or equivalent); and
    • TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills (or equivalent)
    1. Holds a diploma (or higher qualification) in 'adult' education. For example:
      • TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, or
      • Graduate Diploma of Adult and Vocational Education and Training, or
      • Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy

    Specific to ‘New Deliverers’: If you are not currently a qualified Trainer and Assessor but hold a secondary teaching degree, you may be able to ‘Work Under Supervision’ if enrolled in, and working towards completion of, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

    Industry Qualification

    The program deliverer must hold an industry qualification (at the qualification level or higher) and/or degree in that industry area. Additionally:

    • Certificate III in Fitness program deliverers must hold a Certificate IV in Fitness with a collective period of two years working in fitness instruction (or be a registered/ accredited practising exercise professional with a degree and experience).
    • Certificate II in Tourism program deliverers (dual qualification and standalone programs) must specifically hold a 'Tourism, Hospitality or Events' relevant VET qualification (Certificate II or higher).
    • First Aid and CPR Course program deliverers must hold a Provide First Aid Certificate (within 3 years) and CPR Certificate (within 12 months).

    Vocational Competence

    Program deliverers are required to complete a (free) non-accredited Vocational Competence Update (VCU) which is used to demonstrate current knowledge and skills specific to each unit of competency within the qualifications being delivered. Deliverers will need to either hold the unit of competency or demonstrate equivalence (in skills and knowledge) using verifiable evidence (third party verification from a nominated supervisor). Additionally:

    • Certificate III and II in Sport Coaching ONLY - Hold a sport-specific or Community Coaching Certificate (minimum level 1) provided by either an accredited or non-accredited training provider (must have been issued in the previous 3 years).
    • Certificate II in Sport and Recreation ONLY - Demonstrate you have a collective period of at least 3 years’ experience as a recreational activities leader, guide or instructor; the 3 years’ experience can incorporate full and/or part time experience.
    • Certificate II in Tourism ONLY - The program deliverer must have undertaken a Tourism-related industry placement (minimum one full day) prior to commencing their VCU specific to the Tourism-specific units.

    BACK-UP DELIVERER: At least one back-up teacher (per program offered) must meet these HR requirements prior to commencing as a Binnacle program deliverer.

  • Your school (as a third party) must meet the physical resource requirements, including access to real clients/participants, as listed on the Resource Checklists below. Students are required to access all course resources online on Binnacle’s custom-built Learning Management System, the Binnacle Lounge.

    NOTE: Photo or video evidence will be requested as proof that the school has these resources in order to deliver the Training Program.

  • Upon this Statement of Engagement being completed and signed by both School (Third Party) and Binnacle Training (RTO 31319), Binnacle Training gives you consent to use the subject selection materials provided (for marketing Binnacle’s programs) in line with Binnacle’s Marketing Requirements policies. These documents can be downloaded from our SUPPORT CENTRE (Quicklink: Subject Selection Information → All courses):

    • Marketing Requirements for School Subject Selection Material; and
    • Marketing Requirements for School Website.

    Your School (Third Party) is required to submit your subject selection material (for each Binnacle Program you are set to offer), for Binnacle pre-approval. This is to be submitted with your signed Third-Party Agreement in Term 1. This includes subject information as positioned in your school handbook and/or school website. In the event you (the school) make edits to Binnacle supplied marketing materials that impact or change the integrity of the document this must be submitted to Binnacle for pre-approval. This pre-approval process will ensure that your (current and future) subject guide marketing of Binnacle programs meets strict compliance requirements set by ASQA as the regulator.
