2025 Notice of Intention to Obtain an Industry Qualification
Background Information
This document is to verify that you DO NOT hold the required industry qualification and have been enrolled into the required course with an RTO.
This ‘Notice of Intent’ is required to be completed and uploaded into your Profile - Part 2 prior to the commencement of Term 1 2025. A Vocational Competency Update (VCU) is required by 1 April and is essential evidence if you have not yet provided an industry qualification.
This is a short-term agreement and will be approved with an expiry date (typically one full term). If you have not obtained your qualification by the expiry date, the official enrolment of students with Binnacle Training CAN NOT proceed as scheduled (commencement of Term 2 assessment). This will result in:
- Blocks to students accessing their assessment as well as teacher marking; or
- Your class is being transferred to an alternative (qualified) teacher.
TAE Requirements
All Binnacle program deliverers must meet one of the following trainer and assessor requirements prior to the commencement of delivery:
- Minimum Requirement: Holds a teaching degree (which enables registration as a secondary school teacher) plus holds one of the following TAE Skill Sets (cluster of units in partial completion of TAE40122):
- TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set; or
- TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set
- Holds a full Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116 or TAE40110*)
* If using the TAE40110 qualification, the following core units must also be held:
- TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools (or equivalent); and
- TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills (or equivalent)
- Holds a diploma (or higher qualification) in 'adult' education. For example:
- TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, or
- Graduate Diploma of Adult and Vocational Education and Training, or
- Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Specific to ‘New Deliverers’: If you are not currently a qualified Trainer and Assessor but hold a secondary teaching degree, you may be able to ‘Work Under Supervision’ if enrolled in, and working towards completion of, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
